About me

  • I have worked for over 20 years in a variety of settings in the mental health field. Most recently in addition to having my private practice, I was a Support Counselor at Northgate High School in Walnut Creek. I also worked as a clinician at John Muir Behavioral Health Center, an in-patient psychiatric hospital in Concord. I have experience counseling adults, teenagers, and families with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, mental illness, addiction, and sexuality/gender struggles. I am queer and am grateful when I am able support others within the LGBTQ+ community.

In addition to my experience, I am licensed as an MFT (Marriage and Family Therapist) in the state of California. I have a Masters in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University in Boulder, CO. This means that in addition to studying traditional counseling, I also studied a broader aspect of psychology that included a spiritual aspect. At Naropa, we focused on this through practicing meditation. I believe this experience has allowed me to be more present with clients and be compassionate in a deeper way. I have also studied somatic psychology, which incorporates one’s body into therapy, as your thoughts, emotions, and body are all parts of the one system that makes up YOU. Combining the mind and body in therapy adds further depth and wholeness to the work by engaging more aspects of yourself. I am also trained in Brainspotting, a mind/body trauma method and Reiki, an energetic touch-based Japanese healing practice.
